From Grave to Cradle

I couldn't really find a good pic to go along with this post, so I'll just post one of Mumra.

I’ve really never been happier since I left the fifth tier of hell that was Citi. I’m just tired all the time because I’m very much not a morning person. I actually no longer work at Walgreen’s, as I quit last Sunday. I’m now employed as a temp by the ETSU Financial Aid office. I work 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Currently, I am being brutally skull fucked. See, I never went through the financial aid process. Citi, as much of a shithole as it was, did have one stupendous benefit: Tuition Reimbursement. Because of this, I never had to apply for loans and grants. Hence, I knew nothing about financial aid. After one week, I still know nothing.
Today, I actually started assisting people today. Bet you’ll never guess how….that’s right, kids…’Ol Ima had to take phone calls. I knew I wouldn’t be able to escape them so easily. However, the job is kinda cool, as I won’t always be on the phones. They alternate from week to week, so this week I’m on the phones. Next week I’ll be at the front counter. I just need to remain “C cubed” and I’ll be fine (calm, cool, and collected).
I gotta thank homegirl, and now coworker, Erin for hooking me up with this job. I don’t think she’s one of the three people who read this site, but I’ll say thank you to her on here anyway.
Tattoos have replaced liver spots. Essentially, I went from being bitched at by pissed off geezers to being yelled at by my peers. It’s understandable, though. We’re dealing with thousands of dollars rather than the 49 cents that gramps didn’t save because of “regular price.” But it’s a kind of a neat job and it’s a laid back atmosphere. You don’t “clock in.” Your time is kept on an “honor system.” I dig that. It suits me pretty well…unlike that Walgreen’s vest (OK, no one ever laughed at me in my ridiculous “man vest,” however, I wore corduroys to the FA office one day and got the shit ribbed out of me for it…I don’t get it).
Anyway, I’ve got fish to fry and I think taking this job was the best move for me. More on that later, though. For now, I just want to learn this job and prove to my new employer that I can be punctual and diligent. We’ll see how it goes from there.
That being said, I really don’t want to end up in class with any of these kids I’m talking to…they just might whip my ass!
